Abstract Engineering training requires both strong theoretical knowledge and practical skills; however, traditional teaching methods often struggle to effectively integrate these components. Massive open online courses (MOOCs) have emerged as a valuable resource and provide new opportunities for developing blended teaching models in engineering education. In response, a blended teaching model was developed by integrating online resources with traditional classroom instruction. This model combined the flexibility of online learning with the direct engagement of face-to-face teaching to enhance students’ understanding of theoretical concepts and practical skills. The model was implemented with interactive teaching activities, goal-oriented learning materials, and a dedicated technical platform to support this blended learning environment. Implementation results showed that this approach led to significant improvements in students’ academic performance, classroom engagement, and satisfaction. These findings highlight the importance of continuous pedagogical innovation in cultivating engineering talent with the practical and innovative capabilities needed to meet future challenges.
