Abstract Red culture includes spiritual culture with revolutionary spirit, revolutionary values and revolutionary ideals, and material culture with numerous historical materials, cultural relics and old residences. The integration of red culture into ideological and political courses has achieved a modern interpretation of red culture resources, enhanced students' profound understanding of patriotic sentiments, and promoted the innovative development of college political theory teaching. However, in the process of integration, there still exists such realistic dilemmas such as the need to enhance students' interest and recognition of red cultural resources, improve the teacher' effectiveness in adapting and utilizing the resources, and the need to strengthen the universities' coordination and emphasis on the utilization of red cultural resources. Based on this, efforts can be made to promote the in-depth integration of red culture into ideological and political education in colleges and universities from three aspects: building a new pattern of collaborative education, innovating a new model of educational media, and optimizing new paths for practical teaching.
