Abstract To establish the longitudinal connection between universities and high school in the teaching of Basic principles of Marxism is the necessary step in promoting the integration of ideological and political theoretical courses, it is the inevitable requirement for following the law of education and improving the effectiveness of ideological and political education. The teaching content transits from knowledge-based learning to theoretical deepening, marking a longitudinal leap from ideological and political course in high school and Basic Principles of Marxism in university. College teachers should strengthen the discussions and communication with high school ideological and political teachers based on the differences in teaching of between the two educational stages, continuously optimize the ideas of teaching connection, jointly undertake research projects with high school teachers, strive to enhance their ability to connect teaching across the two stages, thereby promoting the effective connection of the teaching between the two educational stages.
