Abstract The promotion of Guangdong Xing Shi in English plays an important role in bringing the Xing Shi culture to the world, which can further enhance people’s sense of cultural pride and national identity. From the perspectives of text type and language elements mentioned in Katharina Reiss's Translation Criticism Theory, the author analyzes the subtitle translation of the documentary Shuoshan Daoshi (Cantonese Version): The Inheritance of Lion Dance Culture (excerpted to 2:56), and aims to deepen the target readers' understanding of the traditional Chinese culture through specific case studies.
