Teacher autonomy is a subject which derives from learner autonomy. In order to overcome the restrictions and limitations of self-factors and external factors on English teachers, this paper analyzes the necessity of the development of English major teachers' autonomy, combs the present situation of the development of English major teachers' autonomy in China, and seeks to probe into the approaches of the development of English major teachers' autonomy. English teachers must attach great importance to the educational concept of teacher autonomy and realize the development of teacher autonomy through multiple channels, which is helpful to improve the teaching level of English majors in our country.
