In the process of application-oriented personnel training in some local colleges and universities, some students are not comprehensive enough to accept and understand knowledge, and their enthusiasm for participating in extracurricular scientific and technological activities is low, which leads to the weak engineering practice ability of these students. This paper proposes a teaching model combining STEAM education in class and extracurricular science and technology activities after class, which fully applies the knowledge learned in class to science and technology activities, so that students can better master the knowledge while exercising their hands-on ability. The implementation of this teaching mode has improved the quality of applied talents and achieved certain results.
