Abstract: The ideological and political course is the key one to implement the fundamental task of cultivating people with morality, and the teachers' responsibility is great. At present, some teachers of the course have problems such as lack of firm political position, weak theoretical basis, and use of rigid teaching methods, which obviously do not conform to the role orientation of ideological and political teachers in the new era. Therefore, the Outline of Modern and Contemporary Chinese History teachers must strengthen the political position, establish a correct view of history, enhance theoretical consciousness, improve theoretical literacy, advance with the times, and update their teaching methods. Only in this way, can they become the guide and students' enlightener at the ideological and knowledge levels, play the role of casting the soul and educating people, and then shoulder the historical mission and the responsibility of the times.
