Abstract Under the background of "New Engineering," the core course "Fermentation Engineering" in the bioengineering major urgently requires reform to cultivate interdisciplinary engineering talents that meet contemporary demands .This study explores reform pathways, focusing on interdisciplinary integration, innovative teaching models, and practical skill development. By incorporating cutting-edge research, strengthening experimental teaching, and deepening industry-academia collaboration, the reform aims to enhance students' comprehensive competencies, practical skills, innovative thinking, and global perspective. Findings indicate that the reform optimizes the curriculum, strengthens the competitiveness of bioengineering professionals, and promotes industry innovation and sustainable development.
