Abstract A novel coordination polymer ofCu(C10H14N4)(C7H4O3)2·3H2O (1) (C10H14N4 = 1,1'-(1,4-butanediyl) bis (imidazole) (bbi); C7H4O3= p-hydroxybenzoic acid) has been synthesized by convenient aqueous solution method and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction, IR spectra and TG analysis. Single-crystal X-ray analysis reveals that the title compound is crystallized in the monoclinic system, space group R-3c with a = 20.614(19)?, b = 12.349(11)?, c = 12.003(11)?, α = 90°, β = 116.840(14)°, γ = 90°, V = 2726(4)?3, Z = 4, F(000) = 1892, S = 1.054, R1 = 0.1044, wR2 = 0.2062 [I>2σ(I)].
