Research and Implementation of Cultivating Measures of Engineering Practice ability for Students Majoring in Automation in Local Colleges

It is necessary to cultivate a lot of engineering talents with spirit of innovation and practice ability for constructing socialist modern powerful country. One of important tasks of the local engineering college is to provide talents support for the economic construction. To enhance the engineering practical ability of students majoring in automation, the following four ways are studied and practiced. Firstly, revise the training program, determine the cultivating object of engineering talents and optimize curriculum system. Secondly, develop four portable teaching platforms, establish a new teaching mode named practice entering classroom and the teaching effect is improved. Thirdly, self-manufacture equipment that can be reassembled and disassembled, students can practice on their own during the whole experiment teaching process and their engineering practice ability is strengthened. Finally, make use of outside school practice base, college-industry cooperated practice base and engineering equipment for students' practice to deepen training of students’ engineering ability.

"Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry" is one of the compulsory courses for chemistry majors. The teaching objects are the freshmen, and the challenge for them is how to stimulate students' interest in learning to make a perfect class in which the students are "willing to learn, learning with happiness". To provide some support and help as well in Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry course, we discussed the relations between classroom teaching and the properties (being scientific, logic, enlightening and artistic) of teaching language and put forward the relevant strategies to cultivate the art of teaching language.

The final exam result is a mirror that reflects the construction of learning atmosphere. By analyzing the students' final exam results, we conclude four reasons for their low learning initiatives: the low teaching quality of classroom teaching, the mismatch of curriculum setting and actual demand, the students' having no interest in theoretical knowledge and the "highlight" phenomenon. Based on the above reasons, we put forward suggestions and countermeasures on the long-term mechanism of constructing the learning atmosphere from the aspects of thoughts, teaching style, scoring system and examination discipline.

In the context of innovative national strategic initiatives, China has an urgent need for large numbers of highly qualified engineers. However, there are still weak links in the cultivation of college students at present, and the practical ability of graduates is far from satisfying the demands. To improve the students' engineering ability and encourage the students study with the purpose of application, the cultivation scheme is revised: the proportion of teaching hours in the experiment and fieldwork such as designing experiment has been increased, and the course system and teaching methods have been reformed. In this way, we can provide more opportunities for our students to operate on their own, and this helps to improve the students' engineering ability and helps the students to step closer to the goal of becoming an excellent engineer.
