Abstract
The study of translation principles, the criterions translators should follow, is imperative in translation study. In spite of the significance, the principles are hard to define, and an increasing number of translation principles have emerged, like "faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance". Through the reorganization and study of translation principles home and abroad, the writer lays emphasis on the application and significance of "faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance" on literary translation to enhance its practicality, instead of study merely from theoretical perspectives.
