Abstract The ideological and political courses can achieve quality improvement and efficiency by building golden courses, which is to meet the training needs of socialist builders and successors as well as the needs of individual students' development. In 2022, General Secretary Xi Jinping defined the effectiveness of ideological and political golden courses as "communication between minds, enlightenment of the mind and nourishment of the soul, inspiration of the fighting spirit". To explore three paths of realizing the effectiveness of ideological and political golden courses in colleges and universities from the perspective of Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory is a new idea for the construction of ideological and political courses in the new era.
