The professional introduction course is a course that integrates professional education, ideology education and employment education, etc. It is very important to offer the introduction course to freshmen. In this paper, we analyze and discuss the necessity of the introduction course for the freshmen of electronic information science and technology major in local general undergraduate colleges and universities from four aspects: the need of the development of the times, the need of establishing professional self-confidence, the need of professional enlightenment, and the need of college students' academic planning.
