Target management is a scientific and effective management tool, management method and management concept, and an important aspect of scientific management in Colleges and universities. Taking Jilin Institute of Chemical Technology as an example, this paper expounds the general idea of implementing the target management of teaching units, and carries out research and practice from the aspects of the composition of target management index system of teaching units, assessment and application of results. It has achieved remarkable results, promoted the connotative and high-quality development of the institute, and has also been implemented. The problems existing in the process are put forward and some suggestions are put forward.
