Abstract Teaching and research are two basic functions and important tasks for colleges and universities．The
promoting and restricting relations between them has always been focused and talked about． The research is
based on the training target of engineering application talents， focused on improving the students’practice
ability and innovation spirit on the basis of the engineering professional teachers’scientific research projects．
The teachers’scientific research project was combined with the specific teaching of water supply and drainage
science and engineering，which was explored and practiced in this paper．
