Abstract This paper analyzes the transformation and sublimation of " explicit" artistic elements from Tang poetry and Song Ci in the creative practice of Matsuo Basho,a classic haiku poet, by examining the quotation and adaptation of phrases and structures, with the aim of providing new perspectives and insights for comparative studies between Chinese and Japanese literature.
