Abstract Hippophae rhamnoides polysaccharide is one of the main functional components of Hippophae rhamnoides, which is rich of a high biological activity. In this paper, the extraction, purification methods and their biological activity of Hippophae rhamnoides polysaccharides are summarized in order to provide the reference in food, health care products and pharmaceutical fields, etc. for industrial production.
