Abstract: The crude polysaccharide of Rubus crategefolius Bunge. root was extract using water-extract and ethanol-precipitation method. It was further purified through de-protein and dialysis as well as DEAE-52 cellulose column chromatography. Two purified polysaccharide, RCP-1 and RCP-2 were obtained. The in vitro antioxidant activity of RCP-1 and RCP-2 was determined by DPPH, superoxide anion and ABTS scavenging assays. The results showed that the polysaccharide content of RCP-1 and RCP-2 were 80.66% and 82.15%, repectively. RCP-1 and PCP-2 had scavenging effect on DPPH, ABTS and superoxide anion. It also showed the concentration-dependent relationship. RCP-2 showed higher antioxidant activity that RCP-1. The results indicated that polysaccharide from Rubus crategefolius Bunge. root have a good antioxidant activity. It might be the material basis of the bioactivity of water soluble component of Rubus crategefolius Bunge. root.
