Abstract
Lu Xun's novel On the Restaurant has left a deep impression on the readers because of its description of Lvweifu's " perfunctoriness", "vagueness", and "exceptionally slowness". Why does Mr. Lu Xun give such a description? What is the background? For this reason, this article puts the Lvweifu's description of the spirit and action into macro social and cultural context, uses Bourdieu cultural sociology as a theoretical support to analyze the martial arts spirit from three core aspects: field, habits and capital. It is believed that the gradual loss of martial arts spirit is the prominent appearance of the social value of the intellectuals' represented by Lvweifu at that time. This appearance is the profound influence of the intellectual spiritual entities in the field, capital, and habits caused by the dramatic social changes in the late May 4th period. The central problem of qualitative change, It is embodied in deep social relations with the field(social space), habits(subjective behavior), and capital(objective behavior). This deep social relationship directly affects the "convergence of the martial arts spirit", resulting in the intellectual' "perfunctory", "vague" mental state and "exceptionally slow" action represented by Lvweifu, and eventually affected the intellectual reform.
