| The Factors Influencing the Efficacy on Incidental Vocabulary Acquisition in English Reading |

Abstract Incidental vocabulary acquisition refers to enrich vocabulary unintentionally in the process of meaningful language activities and learning assignment, it is an accidental cognitive activity when the attention focuses on the other things. The paper finds that the topic and the density of the new words in the reading materials can affect the incidental vocabulary acquisition through the test. The objects of the test are the sophomores of English major in one of the universities of Jilin. The paper expects to rich the theory of second language acquisition by discussing the factors influencing incidental vocabulary acquisition; meanwhile it aims to play a guiding role in the English vocabulary teaching.
