Abstract Two strains screened from oil wastewanter were identified using 9 physiological and biochemical tests,16s rDNA technology and degradation effect of petroleum hydrocarbons components by two single strain were studied. Results showed that the two strains were:L2-Ochrobactrum ciceri sp.and L3-Serratia marcescens sp. The effect of 2 strains of single bacteria on petroleum hydrocarbon degradation was very efficient,It revealed that petroleum hydrocarbons degradation rate of L4 was up to 97.37% and 98.98% after incubated in a rotary shaker at 30℃ and 120 r/min for 6 days and initial concentration of petroleum hydrocarbons was 4000 mg/L. Two kinds of bacteria on the first 3 days of the oil degradation rate was faster, and then enter the stationary phase, the growth rate was slow until zero.
