Abstract In this paper,BaWO4 powders with ideal luminescence properties were synthesized by hydrothermal
method,using polyethylene glycol as a complexing agent.The effects of pH, reaction temperature and reaction
time on synthesis of samples were studied.Parallel tests were used to observe the differences.The results were
used to determine the best method.The products are characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron
microscope.The results show that the luminous intensity is best when the pH = 9, T = 200 ℃ , and time is 12
hours,concentration ratio of Yb3+ /Tm3+ is 7 1,doping concentration of Tm3+ ions is 1.0mol%.
