Abstract The cultivation of applied talents is of great importance to the national medium and long-term development program of building an innovative country. This paper takes the reform of training model of automotive engineering professionals in our school as an example and pays attention to the cultivation of vocational skills and innovative ability by anlyzing the engineering professionals' characteristics, with the aim of meeting the personnel needs for industry and local economic development, it discusses the optimization and reform of the curriculum system and its practice, which helps to realize the cultivation of applied talents.
