Abstract Physical and chemical properties and application field of propylene oxide (PO) is reviewed. Introduce the current situation of PO production process. At present, the technology of industrial production including chlorohydrination process, co-oxidation process, cumene hydroperoxide process (CHPPO) and hydrogen peroxide direct oxidation process (HPPO). Two new production process routes of propylene oxide by CHPPO method and HPPO in China are analyzed. By summarizing their characteristics in two methods and research progress of these production techniques and suggestions for development of PO in the future put forward.
