Abstract
Formulaic sequences are the expressions with fixed or semi-fixed grammatical structure, and they have stable semantic connotation and specific pragmatic function. The acquisition of formulaic sequences is not a single linear process but with repeated fluctuations, it is influenced by many factors. This paper explores the effects of gloss position on the incidental acquisition of English formulaic sequences from the perspective of second language acquisition; it also presents corresponding suggestions by analyzing the results of the experimental research and the purpose of the paper is to improve the students’ acquisition of formulaic sequences.
