| Catalytic Performance of Sulfonic Acid Resins on the Transalkylation of Dinonylphenol with Phenol |

Abstract The transalkylation of dinonylphenol with phenol was carried out using a batch reactor with sulfonie
acid io-exchange polystyrene resin as catalysts．The composition and mechanical properties of sulfonated resin
were characterized by FTIR and particle strength test． Results show that the optimal reaction condition is as
follows: reaction temperature，150～ 155 ℃ ; phenol: nonylphenol ( molar ratio) ，10 1; catalyst dosage，10wt%;
reaction time，3～ 3．5 h．In this case，the conversion of dinonylphenol is above 90% and the yield of nonylphenol
is above 70%．By this process，dinonylphenol，the by-product of nonylphenol industry process，could be utilized
effectively．The economic benefits of the nonylphenol industry device would be improved．
