Abstract: The purpose of translating scientific and technological texts is to comprehend, translate, and convey the original information accurately and faithfully. Scientific and technical texts often contain lengthy and passive voice sentences. They emphasize process descriptions, maintain a close contextual focus, utilize conjunctions, and employ professional, logical, and objective vocabulary. In consideration of the characteristics of scientific and technical texts, this paper utilizes the functional equivalence theory to analyze various methods in translating scientific and technical texts. It also discusses translation strategies for scientific and technical English to enhance translation quality, ensuring scientific accuracy, professionalism, and standardization.
