Abstract: In the field of dielectric materials, this paper reviews the research advances in the identifications on valence states and site occupations of four kinds of valence-variable rare-earth ions (Ce, Pr, Eu, and Tb) in BaTiO3 ceramics for a decade in Research Center for Materials Science and Engineering (RCMSE), Jilin Institute of Chemical Technology. Some research findings are introduced briefly for the applications of these valence-variable rare-earth ions in double rare-earth-doped BaTiO3 ceramics (DRBT).
