Teaching can promote scientific research, and vice versa. The two factors are mutually unified and indispensable. However, most of local engineering colleges attach more importance to teaching and despise the idea of scientific research, which led to the alienation of the two key points in higher education and the inefficiency of improving the colleges' quality of cultivation. Therefore, this paper focuses on the effect of scientific research on teaching from the perspective of promoting the applied talents' quality. It emphasizes the important role of scientific research in promoting quality of teaching, students' comprehensive quality, teaching staff construction and discipline construction.
