Abstract: Among the current assessment tools and methods, formative assessment is not only widely used, but also can achieve good evaluation results for foreign language teaching. In order to improve the application quality of formative assessment in foreign language teaching in colleges and universities, the study discusses the application of formative assessment in foreign language teaching. Formative assessment has multiple meanings for college students' foreign language learning and teachers' teaching.
